With Apologies to Coach Ekeler E-mail

Props to Spencer Hall at SBNation.com for catching this one . . .

ressingConventional wisdom has it that the greatest threat facing those perched along NU's sideline is incurring the wrath of Pelini.  Perhaps the most memorable victim of this fate in 2009 is P.J. Mangieri, the freshman longsnapper to whom Pelini issued a  bone-chilling polite reminder to stop missnapping the ball on punts despite the wet conditions on a Thursday night in Columbia, Missouri.  Well, it seems that the conventional wisdom might be wrong . . . at least when the opponent is KU Quarterback Todd Reesing:

nutcracker

Whatever did Coach Ekeler do to merit such harsh treatment?  Was this blind payback for Larry Asante's attempted killshot during the Reesing slide for a first down several plays earlier on the drive?  Or was this a KU-KSU thing prompted by Ekeler's pedigree and Reesing's lingering frustration over a 17-10 loss to the Wildcats the previous week?  Sadly, we may never know.

For now, those who plan on procreating anytime in the near future are well served to avoid Reesing.  As for Coach Ekeler, maybe someone should take a cue from Ray Zalinsky (Dan Akroid's character) in Tommy Boy, who responds to seeing Rob Lowe take a devastating shot in the nuts thusly: "'Send over a bottle of bubbly with a bucket of ice and a card. Have it say, 'Tough break, get drunk on me. Use the bucket to ice down your marbles, Yours, Z.'"
