After watching the 'Big Red Wrap-Up' show, it was brought to my attention that I was getting ahead of myself a little on this post about how Anterio Sloan's decommitment puts us back down to only five recruits for the 2010 class. As I explained there, that low number looks alarming when you consider our class is at #9 (numbers & ranking) in the Big 12 and it's already September.
However, with the scholarships that are going to be available, I wouldn't be getting too uptight right now. These are the senior scholarship players we are going to be losing after the 2009 season:

| 1 |
Larry Asante |
| 2 |
Chris Brooks |
| 3 |
Wes Cammack |
| 4 |
Andy Christensen |
| 5 |
Phillip Dillard |
| 6 |
David Harvey |
| 7 |
Jacob Hickman |
| 8 |
Menelik Holt |
| 9 |
Colton Koehler |
| 10 |
Derek Meyer |
| 11 |
Matt O'Hanlon |
| 12 |
Ndamukong Suh |
| 13 |
Ricky Thenarse |
| 14 |
Barry Turner |
Sure, we'll probably lose another few scholarship players to attrition, but there are also some players on the current squad that might be picking those up. And as far the NFL goes, I don't know about you, but I think the only chance - and a very small one at that - would be losing Roy Helu, Keith Williams, or Pierre Allen. The bottom line is there's only 14 players that are going to be lost for certain. Given that and the usual offseason fiascos, I'd be comfortable in saying our recruiting class is going to consist of roughly 16 or 17 scholarship players at most. Five doesn't sound so bad now, but still, let's get the ball rolling here just a little.
